The Screenagers Project has advocated for phone-free school policies since 2017, by providing free tools to help school communities understand the value of putting their devices "Away For The Day."

The trickle of legislation regulating phones in schools now is a tidal wave. As of fall 2025, more than 30 U.S. states have banned or significantly restricted electronic devices in schools.

Is your school going phone-free this year? We know you’re eager to get off to a strong start with your community of students, staff, and families.
To help, we created a PowerPoint, “Welcome To Our Phone-Free School,” for sharing with them at back-to-school night, school assemblies, and other forums.
The presentation summarizes the reasons for these new policies and what can be learned from schools that have already enacted them, avoiding scare tactics and instead focuses on science and relatable stories.
It’s also short, giving you plenty of time to provide specifics and answer questions from your community. Use it to generate buy-in and set the table for success.
